It is hard to imagine a more interesting place to engage in revolutionary politics than a room full of guns (and beer!), but as our luck would have it (and luckily for America) the majority of shoppers and vendors at the Portland Expo Center tended toward patriotic political leanings and, by all reports, were friendly and open-minded during encounters with party activists.

While having roughly a dozen personal conversations and passing out over a hundred pieces of literature cannot compare with the scope and reach of establishment media, able to enter into every home with a constant supply of professionally tailored propaganda, Council activists nevertheless maintain that what they are doing is having an impact, as much on themselves as on those they speak and meet with. Frank Anderson, one of the activist trio and a participant in several recent Council functions in Oregon had this to say:

“Every day I become a little more nervous about the future. Our people are increasingly marginalized politically. The majority of whites are refusing to organize while there is still an opportunity to resolve our problems through the political process. Our nation is being overrun by immigrants at the same time that our own people cannot find work or afford homes of their own. To me, these circumstances are mind-boggling, but there is only so much I can do. I can join nationalist organizations and perform activism on their behalf. That is what I did at the gun show.”

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2013, from 1 until 3 p.m. at Carbon Hill Church of Christ prior to the service starting at 3 p.m. Dr. Charles Baker will officiate. Burial will follow at Mackey Boshell Cemetery.

Wilson was born on March 6, 1936, and was a lifelong resident of Walker County. He was an active member of the Macedonia Church of Christ, Sons of Confederate Veterans, Council of Conservative Citizens and Alabama Constable’s Association.

He attended the University of Alabama, Baylor University and was a graduate of Birmingham School of Law. Throughout his career he was active in local and state politics. Wilson had the distinguished priviledge to serve as an Alabama delegate in five Republican National Conventions and collaborating with Alabama’s Confederate Library at Confederate Park. He compiled hundreds of books and Civil War artifacts to preserve and commemorate Confederate history for future generations.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleo Wilson and William Wilson.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Ray Wilson Jr.; three grandsons, Adam, Jack and Webb Wilson; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.

He will be rememebered with love by his special friend, Bonnie Englebert; her daughter, Ginger Burson, and adopted grandchildren, Isabella and Mycah.

funeral will be held Sunday, April 7th from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Church of Christ in Carbon Hill, AL.

On March 24, Robert Zimmerman, Jr., tweeted an image of Martin holding up two middle fingers, beside an image of De’Marquise Kareem Elkins, the Ga. teen accused of fatally shooting a one-year-old in his stroller last week. Elkins also appears to be flipping off the camera.

Zimmerman, 32, told Crimesider that he found the photographs by doing a Google search on the name of each teen. The photo of Martin came from a post on the Council of Conservative Citizens website, and the one of Elkins appeared on a website called the Chicago News Report. He then created the illustration himself – adding the words, “A picture speaks a thousand words. Any questions?”

In the days and weeks after Martin’s death, as the story of his shooting and the fact that the man who killed him had not been arrested made national news, many news outlets illustrated their stories with photographs of Martin that were several years old. At the same time, Zimmerman said that the images of his brother – some of which were taken when George was significantly heavier than he was on the night of the shooting – made him look like a “monster.”

Zimmerman said that, side-by-side, those images created a false sense of both Martin and his brother: “In a self-defense case, it’s important to show who my brother was defending himself against. It wasn’t a 12-year-old.”

The tweet, however, struck many as being racist and highly insensitive, especially given the fact that Martin is deceased. Zimmerman said that was not his intention.

“I’m not saying these two guys are the same and so are all black teenagers,” he said. “This is the way these individuals chose to portray themselves. [Elkins] is being portrayed in the media as he portrayed himself to be, why isn’t Trayvon Martin?”
